As I mentioned on my “me” page, I am a Christian. But the truth be told, I haven’t always been one or at least I was a very poor excuse for one. I always believed in God, but thought of him more of a distant being or force that I only went to in times of trouble or when I needed something. When I would pray it would go something like this: Dear God, remember when I did that “really good thing”…..well I really need something now and well ummmm…. since I’m usually a pretty good guy…. and don’t usually act like so and so …. Um, well, I really need a little help now…so if we could work something out that would be great….ok thanks! And then I would probably throw an Amen in or say an Our Father prayer. Oh Man! As the saying goes, if I only knew then what I know now. I’m glad to say though that I now have a much better handle on my faith and a clearer focus on what it means to be a Christian. Most of what I believe now has come from reading the Bible, studying the Bible, good Christian friends, and passionate, knowledgeable church Pastors.
Which leads me to today’s post. A “brother” in the firefighter sense, but also in the “good Christian friends” sense, sent me the video clip below. As I said, I now have a much better handle on my faith in part due to reading and studying the Bible. The clip he sent is related to the scripture Ephesians 2:10, which in part says, “For we are God’s masterpiece.” Well sometimes when I read a piece of scripture like this, in my mind, I hear the brakes screeching and the metal crunching and think….does God really know me? Maybe HE was talking about someone else! Masterpiece? Me, the guy who has let YOU down and keeps wandering off the path? But then again, I realize it’s my poor view of things! I am looking at my current situation from a horizontal perspective instead of a vertical perspective. I believe God has the highest vantage point and therefore there must be a higher reason HE is allowing me to struggle, face this situation, or feel this way! At any rate I thought I would share this video clip with you in case you are wondering if you are a Masterpiece.
Let me know what you think…are you a Masterpiece?
