If you have been struggling with setting and keeping your goals for this year, maybe you should try a different approach and take a 30 day challenge. As I mentioned in my Goal Setting post, if you break any goal down, essentially it consists of a broader to- do list with a more focused outcome. I also mentioned that most of us are already good at creating and taking the necessary action to bring smaller to-do lists to completion, i.e. meet our “mini” goals. The 30 day challenge can be viewed as a shorter term commitment, like a smaller to-do list, that can have big results. Matt Cutts, a successful Engineer at Google, gives you his view through a TED Talk on “Try Something New For 30 Days.” In his talk he says: “The next 30 days are going to pass whether you like it or not, so why not think about something you have always wanted to try and give it a shot for the next 30 days?” So if there is a goal or some other pursuit you have been delayed at beginning or completing, why don’t you try a different approach and turn it into a 30 day challenge. You may find it was just the inspiration you needed to get your goal setting back on track.
